GRASSROOTS POLITICAL GROUPS
Citizen Hope seeks to empower people for change through community action and social networking. 2008 was the beginning of an unprecedented movement toward greater social and political engagement among our generation. We’ll build upon our new vibrant and diverse political community to impact our collective future, beginning with regular memorable and enjoyable social events around the Bay Area, each highlighting a specific issue, cause or special guest. Many will involve fundraising and/or an associated “action”—from volunteering at a local program to finding targeted avenues to further the values of inclusion, opportunity and diversity. By uniting attendees through awareness and service, we will build our political and social community and push forward our shared values and goals.

DemocracyAction formed following the 2004 Presidential, reflecting SF volunteers’ ongoing commitment to advance progressive values and help build the Democratic Party. We focus on federal and statewide general elections and on issues of national importance, and support like-minded grassroots efforts. As the only such group in San Francisco, we welcome people of all political parties and independents. We are committed to an inclusive, diverse membership and leadership, and to practices which reflect shared responsibility, trust, and mutual respect. Our activities support and draw on the personal passion, moral commitment and volunteer efforts of our members and supporters. We have been at the forefront of San Francisco voter registration and federal election activities since our formation. Alec Bash alec.bash©gmail.com

San Francisco for Democracy formed following Dean’s withdrawal from the 2004 Presidential, as an inclusive community committed to the values underlying our democracy—equal opportunity, civil rights, a healthy environment, fiscal responsibility, affordable health care, quality education, and social justice for all Americans—and peace and security achieved through international cooperation. Our purpose is to promote social welfare and restore citizens' ownership of our democracy by mobilizing grassroots participation in the community. San Francisco for Democracy supports public policy issues through a combination of voter registration drives, education, fundraising, community service, grassroots organizing, and direct action at the national, state, and local levels. San Francisco for Democracy works to ensure that elected officials are held accountable to the electorate. Tim Durning president©sf4democracy.com

San Francisco MoveOn Council formed in 2007 to provide a local, face-to-face MoveOn.org presence, one of many such organized across the Country. MoveOn Councils are teams of committed volunteers who go beyond email and organize hard-hitting events in their community. Councils specialize in rapid-response events, acting on national issues while they're still hot. And this network, with hundreds of Councils around the country, gives MoveOn the power to have our voices heard. MoveOn Councils and the 4.2M MoveOn Members worked to hold elected officials accountable, and delivered almost 1M volunteers and over $88M for Barack Obama. Gabie Berliner gberliner©comcast.net

San Francisco Young Democrats endeavor to stimulate in young people an active interest in governmental affairs, increase the efficiency of our government, maintain the viability of our free institutions, and contribute to the growth and influence of the ideals and philosophies of the Democratic Party. They reflect the under 35 year old segment of society made up of students, activists and young professionals that seek to promote and advance the ideals of the Democracy, and seek to bring diverse young Democrats from the Bay Area together as a force and voice for young people in local, state and national politics and policy. Take Back Red California (TBRC)
is a grassroots coalition that connects northern California Democrats in urban counties with northern California Democratic activists working in rural counties especially on a local level.  We formed with the conviction that in order to successfully challenge the Republican's foothold in California, our highest priority should be development of and aggressive support for an active local base of Democrats in rural counties.  TBRC is a partnership between northern California counties that offers rural areas financial, technical, and volunteer support to build a strong Democratic base and develop long-term Democratic political viability in predominately Republican-held areas. Progressive-Alliance.org–Continuing the Campaign for Change. America is facing many problems: the recession, homelessness, and unemployment, just to name a few. In an effort to support Continuing the Campaign for Change, I have set up a Social Network to provide individuals a venue to express their concerns, organize around common concerns, and work together to in an effort to bring about change. I’m Continuing the Campaign with benefits for homeless and hunger in San Francisco to support local non-profits. I have $25,000 in concert equipment for those who want to produce benefit concerts. Everyone is welcome to help, simply join Social Network. Also see Static Website. Thanks so much for your time and support. Paul Warnow paul©progressive-alliance.org
